RAM is described as a Random Access Memory chip that can access the memory contents in any random order to attain the required information. RAM memory cells consistently lose memory, so they have to be refreshed periodically in order to keep the information from disappearing.

RAM is the temporary working space of a computer. It is the temporary memory of a computer that holds information that is inputted until it is given instruction to send the information to the CPU to be processed and possibly saved into the hard drive, the permanent memory.

The memory of RAM stores bytes of information that may be accessed in any order unlike Sequential Access Memory, which accesses memory in a set order. The RAM must continually refresh the data it is holding, otherwise the data will fade into zero.

I would purchase the Diamond Xtreme Sound XS71 card because it holds most of the features of the $50 Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Sound card for a much cheaper price. The Diamond Xtreme card has the same DAC Data Width and sample rate of max kHz as the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Surround 5.1 Sound card. It also manages to match the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro Series Sound card in terms of Sound Output, 7.1 channel surround. My only concern is the fact that it lacks any sort of warranty, as opposed to the two more expensive brands. Overall, I would take the risk of purchasing this cheap sound card, as it performs better than the $50 one, and is only a fraction of the price of the Creative Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Pro Series Sound card.
